OX-A-POWER 50 ml injection (Compare to the active ingredients of Nature Vet Heptam ®) is a multiamino acid supplement to enhance energy supply plus minimize muscle damage.

Features and Benefits:
POWERMAX INJECTION facilitates energy availability during exercise and provides a potent anti-catabolic effect to limit muscle damage while exercising.

Actions:
Ornithine alphaketoglutarate (OAK) stimulates Growth Hormone and Insulin release for a potent tissue building effect.  Trials have demonstrated that OAK effectively reduces muscle loss after surgery and trauma plus increases the synthesis of muscle protein.  OAK also acts as an ammonia scavenger within the body and provides the body with glutamine – the most abundant free amino acid in muscle tissue.  The level of glutamine is directly correlated to the level of muscle protein synthesis.  During exercise large amounts of glutamine are lost from muscle tissue.  As a provider of glutamine, OAK has a potent anti-catabolic effect which helps prevent tissue breakdown, especially in muscles.
Human trials found that in burn and surgery patients confirm that patients supplemented with oral OAK reduced muscle loss and synthesis of muscle protein.

Arginine stimulates the release of growth hormone and is a potent stimulus to Insulin release. Arginine is the end product of OAK breakdown in the body, therefore OAK adds to the arginine pool available for growth hormone release.

Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6) functions at all levels of protein and amino acid metabolism as well as in formation of new hemaglobin.  It is essential in the process of  the breaking down of muscle glycogen for fuel.  Requirements increase as protein requirements increase and as energy expenditure increases.

Glycine is the precursor for creatine, essential for normal muscle function and is also a potent stimulator of growth hormone release and subsequent muscle growth. Glycine is a very important component of collagen.

Aspartates are essential for maintaining the muscle ATP pool and in limiting the amount of ammonia accumulation by increasing ammonia clearance.

Dosage and Administration:
POWERMAX INJECTION can be given to Adult Horses: 20 ml by intravenous use, twice weekly or as directed by a veterinarian, preferably within 4-6 hours of anticipated work.
Dogs: 0.5-1 ml per 10-15 kg bodyweight (2 ml per 30 kg greyhound)

Presentation:  50 ml sterile multi-dose glass vial.

Storage:  Store below 25C  (Air Conditioning) and protect from light.  Use the contents of the vial within 3 months of initial broaching and discard any unused portion.
